Malaysian Cars- Part 2: Perodua

This is the second and final part of the series (saga :P). Just a short briefing about Perodua. Perodua stands for Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Berhad, and launched in 1993. They normally produce small-sized cars, instead of Sedan, but they did produce 4-wheel drive, the Perodua Kembara, and the latest Perodua Nautika.

We begin with the Perodua Kancil.

Facelifted Model (with new headlamp, tail lamp, front grille, fender designs)

The design of this car is taken from the Daihatsu Mira. Sometimes, you can see people in the streets driving Kancil, but with funny weird tail lamps, and sometimes sunroof. It could either be a real Daihatsu Mira, or a Kancil, with Mira parts. I cant find any Mira pictures in the internet.

Perodua Rusa

Perodua Kembara

This is not the Perodua Kembara, but the Daihatsu Terios. It looks the very same as the Kembara.

This is the Daihatsu Be-go/Toyota Rush. New version of Terios. Perodua might use this design for the Nautika.

Perodua Kenari

Sometimes you will be able to see some Kenari with long tail lamp, and the word "Move". This is what the word "Move" means.

Perodua Myvi

The Myvi is the best selling car that Perodua produce. It came from designs of the Daihatsu Sirion/Boon and the Toyota Passo.

So again, as you can see the similarities between Perodua and Daihatsu design.

In a way, its good that both Proton and Perodua uses designs from foreign car makers, as we can buy the cars cheaper, and the spare parts and accessories easily available.
