Feeling Pain
I've been reading lots of blogs, and the news about the tragic disaster happened in China and Myanmar, too. I see lots of people sympathised about the people, and their condition. They donate money, either through SMS or by Cash. Sometimes there's thing goes through my mind, about their sympathy. Are they really sympathy about the condition of the people there, because of what happened, or are they sympathizing because they are scared, that it might happen to them later.
Let me give an example, when you're small time, you ride your bike with your friends, and when one of your friend fall off and hurt him/herself, and you laughed at him/her. You go back and tell the story to your parents, they told you not to laugh at him, because someday you might fall too. What they might have not teach you is that, to feel his/her pain. Back to the disaster thing, i guess sometimes we (even could be myself), sympathize just so it wont happen to me. I feel that, if i sympathize for them, i (or my country), will not be faced with problems with this. 9/11 incident, happened, i was so focused on the airplane crashing the building, but i dint feel the pain, of the victims who went through the terror ride, realised that their plane had been hijacked by terrorist, and it's going to crash through buildings.
When my housed shake few days ago, when an earthquake occurred at Nias, Indonesia, i really could felt what the victims of earthquake went to. Even it wasn't strong, and it didn't last long, i still was scared, all kind of thing run through my mind, "what if the whole building collapsed?". Even after it stopped, i did scared for a while. Whatbout them, what would they feel? How would they feel when building collapsed on their soft bodies? How would they feel when their parents, friends, teachers, colleagues, lovers, and other relatives died, and they were the only one left? How would they stand in pain, being crushed by tonnes of building walls and cements for hundreds of hours? For these victims, they not only face physical pain, but emotionally and mentally too. How would they going to live their life after this?
How can you feel their pain? Simple one, but hard. Just think of yourself under the pile of walls, cements, and stones. You are hungry and thirsty. You feel heavy pile on top of you, then you hear a voice, you scream for help, they came and rescue you, 5 hours later. You were brought to hospital, the doctor/police/army person tells you, that your family and friends are dead. You cannot withstand to hear the news, you are so sad, angry, confuse, and shocked. You wish you would just die there, with your family members and friends, because without them, life is not complete. While in hospital, no one came to visit you, or talk to you. After came out of hospital, you go out for the first time, searching for something, something you don't know. You need a place to stay, but where do you begin? You need someone with you, where can you find? You need support, who will give you? Is it end of life?
Sometimes i wish God would create like an USB thing for us, humans. We just connect it to the person in pain and feel their pain, but in the end of the day, it's merely transferring pain, and yes you might feel the pain, but you don't actually "feel" the real pain. God gives us emotion, feeling and love, let us all us it.
