Salt, please.

I was debating with a friend of mine, one how most families in Alam Megah rarely goes out to eat as family. I always eat my lunch and dinners outside of the house. So i go to many restaurants, Chinese, Malay, and Indian. Once in a while, i do go to other types of restaurants with my church members.

Based on my observation, Chinese families are the ones, who usually goes out as family, to eat dinner normally. Then followed by Malays, and then Indians. A note though, this observation isn't noted down by me, using any graphs, charts, or timetables. This is what normally i see through my eyes. For me, going out as family for lunch, or dinner is a good thing. It somewhat strengthens the family bonds, and it's a good way for families to spend time, with different atmosphere, ambiance, location, and the culture of the diner.

I was telling to my friend, that most of the time, in Chinese restaurants, most of the time, people go there either alone, or with friends. In Malay restaurant, normally it would be Malay couples, would be there. There are one of two times, people would go there with friends. As for Indian food shop, most likely colleagues, friends would go there. In Alam Megah, it's very rare to see any Chinese or Indians go to Malay Restaurant. In Chinese restaurant, Chinese and Indians would go there. Indian/Mamak Restaurants tops the chart, with the majority of races going there. Simply because of, the halal matter, pure original roti canai, and curry.

People over here, somewhat dont go out with their family that much, well some dont go out at all, and eat 24/7, 365 days at their own home. My neighbors for example, dont go out that much with family. More often, just go to their relative houses. Most of the time, they hang out with their friends at mamak, to watch football, while their wifes at home, with the children. Teens like me, who goes out with friends, too rarely spend time going out with family as well. In my case, my dad don't like to go out and eat outside food. I on the other hand, want to spend my time with my friends.

I was watching MARTHA, few weeks ago, went Martha Steward said the use of BlackBerry at restaurants and cafes are disrupting family lunch/dinner. Less communication between family members.

My final words is, that eating lunch/dinner at home is something good, and should be done often. At times it's best if it's being done outside. What's the problem spending few Ringgits on much higher level restaurants, than the usual restaurants we go to.

Me-lvin^_~
