Some info about the singer and the video

1.)This is Rick's first video - it was shot in 1 day in a West London athletic club. (that explains why the video keeps on repeating).

2.)The director was hired the day before shooting began.

3.)Rick had been "fetching tea" for record producers.The same producer saw his talent and made him a "fetching" new pop star.

4.)When the record executives first heard Rick's voice, they didnt believe it was his.Neither did critics - many thought he was a front for a african american singer. Rick wasn't lying - his fans gave him a nod of approval.

5.)This song was the best selling single of 1987 in the UK. (WHOA!!!)

6.)At 21, Rick was the second youngest Brit to have a #1 hit.

7.)The dancer on the right in the video clip (there's two right), didnt know the steps - the director tried to hide her.

8.)The bartender spent most of the shoot "passed - out" on a pool table.

9.)Rick says he hates music video and wishes he never had to do them. He says "videos are too repetitive".

12.)Rick's manager and the director got into an argument during the shoot. The bartender slept through it. The fight was over whether Rick's sleeves should be rolled up or not. It lasted 2 hours.

13.)The bartender had nearly "slept off his headache" when he was asked to do a stunt (2:49).On his first attempt, he landed on his head.

14.)Rick gave up his producers in 1990 - he was tired of being "treated like a puppet".

15.)He sang for the backup on The Lion King soundtrack.

16.)Someone else fetched his tea for him :)
